Story
Elon Musk and Donald Trump, regarded as two remarkable Americans. The first, owner of Tesla and currently the richest man in the world, is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer of SpaceX; CEO and product architect of Tesla Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI, with a net worth exceeding $393.8 billion as of 2025.He is a conservative political activist and business magnate appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the new U.S. Department of Government Efficiency.

The second, president of the most powerful nation on Earth. Donald Trump and Elon Musk paved the way for the new administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies—measures considered essential for the "Save America" movement, Trump stated in a release.
The Department of Government Efficiency, abbreviated as “DOGE,” according to President Trump, is a nod to the cryptocurrency “Dogecoin,” which Musk has supported and dubbed “the people’s crypto.”
Musk’s support, seen as crucial to President Trump securing a second term, led Trump to appoint him to DOGE—a department with a business-oriented approach to governance, which Trump added could potentially become the “Manhattan Project” of our time.
The Department of Government Efficiency provides advice and guidance from outside the government; its mission is to complete its work by July 4, 2026, U.S. Independence Day. What’s certain is that the 53-year-old South African magnate supported Trump’s reelection. He was a major backer, with Musk donating tens of millions of dollars to fund a super PAC aimed at reelecting Trump.

The close relationship and friendship, now strained, has sparked thousands of interpretations from U.S. media outlets, government officials, the general public, and the international press.
There is talk that SpaceX will suffer a heavy blow following the fallout between the two magnates, with speculation that President Trump also has stakes at risk. The open conflict remains active, and President Trump has made it clear that he has no intention of reconciling with Elon Musk.
It is true that Trump's budget bill—criticized by Musk on his own social media platform, X—sparked the dispute. Musk warned that the bill would increase the federal deficit, calling it a "disgusting abomination." The Trump administration, on the other hand, is confident the bill would cut spending and taxes.

President Trump condemned Musk’s harsh reaction to what he called a “great and beautiful bill.” U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that Musk was making a big mistake, but expressed hope that, in time, Musk would return to the fold. Vance referred to Musk as an incredible entrepreneur.
The Vice President emphasized that the central goal of the bill was not to cut spending, but to extend the 2017 tax cuts approved during Trump’s first term.
Elon Musk’s father, Mr. Errol Musk, commented on the situation: “They’re fighting like gorillas,” describing the feud as exaggerated and comparing it to a clash between gorillas vying for dominance. He advised his son to accept that Donald Trump is the more dominant of the two—and that he would win this round.
